Legal Disclaimer

Effective: October 1, 2026 | Version 1.1

1. The Portal is a preparedness tool, not an emergency service

The Portal helps properties prepare for emergencies and communicate with their own teams. It does not contact police, fire, ambulance, or any government agency, and it is not monitored around the clock. In any emergency, call the national emergency services directly: Police 119, Fire Brigade and Ambulance 110.

2. Delivery is not guaranteed

Alert and drill notices travel by email over networks we do not control. Delivery, timing, and receipt cannot be guaranteed, and disasters themselves commonly disable power, networks, and devices. Every property must maintain non-digital fallbacks: printed plans, posted wall notices, assembly point signage, and regular in-person drills. The Portal supports those practices; it does not replace them.

3. Guidance, not professional advice

Portal content, including plans, action cards, and drill materials, is based on the JHTA emergency standard and recognized preparedness practice. It is general guidance, not legal, engineering, medical, or safety-certification advice, and it is provided subject to ongoing professional review. Each property remains solely responsible for compliance with applicable laws, building and fire codes, occupational safety obligations, and the terms of its insurance, and for adapting all guidance to its own premises.

4. No endorsement claimed

References to any government agency or authority within Portal content are informational. No endorsement of the Portal by any authority is claimed.

5. Drills are physical activities

Properties conduct drills at their own direction and risk, under their own supervision, with appropriate regard for the safety of staff and guests.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by the laws of Jamaica, the Association accepts no liability for death, injury, loss, or damage arising from use of or inability to use the Portal, reliance on its content, or failure or delay of any communication sent through it, except to the extent such liability cannot lawfully be excluded. You agree to indemnify the Association against claims arising from your misuse of the Portal, including any deliberately false alert.
