1. Who we are

The JHTA Emergency Readiness Portal (the "Portal"), available at jhtareadiness.org, is a service of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association ("JHTA", "the Association"), which owns and operates the Portal. These Terms are an agreement between you and the Association.

2. Eligibility and registration

The Portal is a benefit of JHTA membership. Registration requires a member code issued through the Association. By registering a property you confirm that you are authorized to act for that property and that the property is a JHTA member in good standing. Team member accounts are created by invitation from a property's manager account.

3. Your account

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential, and for all activity under your account. A property manager who enters the names, phone numbers, and email addresses of team members confirms that the property has the authority to provide that information for emergency preparedness purposes and has informed those persons. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • trigger a real emergency alert other than in a genuine emergency. Practice uses the drill flow, which is clearly labelled as practice. A deliberately false real alert is a serious misuse and grounds for immediate suspension;
  • upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or harmful, including in property maps and notes;
  • attempt to access another property's data, probe or disrupt the service, or reverse engineer the Portal;
  • resell, sublicense, or provide the Portal to non-member properties.

5. The alert and drill features

Alert and drill notices are delivered by email over third-party networks. You acknowledge that delivery and timing cannot be guaranteed, that the Portal is a preparedness tool and not an emergency service, and that your property remains responsible for its own emergency procedures, including non-digital fallbacks. The Legal Disclaimer forms part of these Terms.

6. Content and intellectual property

The Portal's software, design, and content systems are the intellectual property of First Responders Technology Limited and are licensed to the Association for the operation of this service. The JHTA name, crest, and the JHTA Emergency Response and Readiness Guide are the property of the Association. You receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Portal materials for your property's internal emergency preparedness while your membership and account are active. Your property's own data (names, contacts, resource locations, uploaded maps, drill records) remains yours; you grant the Association the licence needed to operate the service. Suggestions you send us may be used to improve the Portal without obligation.

7. Service availability and changes

The Portal is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. We may modify, add, or retire features, and may interrupt the service for maintenance. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.

8. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms, misuse of alert features, or lapse of membership. On termination you may request an export of your property's data within 30 days.

9. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by the laws of Jamaica, the Association excludes liability for indirect and consequential loss, and its total liability arising from the Portal is limited to USD 100. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. The limitations in the Legal Disclaimer apply in addition.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified by email or in the Portal, and continued use after the effective date is acceptance.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Jamaica, and the courts of Jamaica have exclusive jurisdiction.
